it has been quite some time since i've actually posted an update on this thing, nearly half a year. a lot has happened since i last posted.
first and foremost, i finished my two years in grenada in december. i was able to spend an extra week on the island with my friends enjoying the beaches and island life without having to worry about studying and school work. it's not a bad place when you don't have other things to stress about.
i came home on december 20th and spent christmas at home with my parents. it was nice being home with both my sisters. i think my parents enjoyed having all of their kids at home. i also had dinner at my grandparents' home. it was good to see them doing well and to see my cousins as well.
i drove down to anaheim on december 26th to visit my girlfriend and her family. we went east to vegas and spent 3 days there. it was nice to take a short trip for just the two of us. we met up with my buddy deon and went to sushi buffet. it was SOOO GOODD!!! the gf bought some snowboarding pants at the outlet. we played 1 deck blackjack and won enough money to cover the cost of the pants and some of the cost of our trip. score!!
we then went back to anaheim for a day and went to big bear with my gf's best friend and her best friend's fiance. it was also my gf's first time snowboarding. she did a great job and didn't complain that much even though she fell so much. i was very proud of her :) we spent new year's eve up there. mindy and deon brought their new puppy, cooper, up and stayed with us for a night too.
afterwards i drove home and started studying for step 1 exam. my days consisted of waking up at 8 am, doing a 20 question set, going to the library studying from 10 - 6, coming home for dinner, studying til 9, do a 46 qustion set, review the solutions, and go to bed around 1 am. repeat 7 days a week until march 10th. i took my test on march 12th and got my results on april 6th!! although i didn't do as well as i wanted. i did well enough that i can't complain (99th percentile baby!!).
i had a surgery done that i had been putting off for about 2 years due to being out of the country for school. so now my days consist of recovering (vicodin, sleeping, etc). and going in for follow-up visits.
i leave in a week go to see my gf in grenada. i haven't seen her since january. i knew that having a long distance relationship would be alot of work. but the hardest part is not being in each other's company. so far we've made it work very well. as we say, "in it to win it". my luggage is going to be full of foods that she can't get out there.
anyways, done at hte dr's office, time to head home. hopefully i'll update before 6 months pass again.
